R. L. Harkins, Inc. encourages continuing education of it's employees, particularly for key personnel. Leading by example, Superintendents, C.W. Woodard and Barney Villalobos have completed the OSHA 30-Hour Certification Safety Course for the Construction Industry. This course introduces OSHA policies, procedures and standards as well as construction safety and health principles. Topics include scope and application of OSHA construction standards, general safety provisions and specific safety issues involving personal protective equipment, manual lifting, fall protection, scaffolding, stairways, ladders, tools, electrical, health hazards and controls, fire protection and prevention, signs, material handling, excavation, cranes, environmental risk, safety preplanning, blasting, concrete and masonry, confined spaces, demolition, motor vehicles, steel erection, cutting and welding. Upon successful completion of the 24-hour web-based portion and a one-day instructor-led refresher class and test, C.W. and Barney each received their OSHA Construction Safety and Health 30-hour Certification Card.
